Garlic harvest! Garlic needs to be planted in the fall and then harvested when the tops start to wilt and die back in the late spring to early summer. You can let them die back pretty far but not so far that the the tops blend back into the ground and you can't remember where you planted it to dig it up!
You can use the garlic fresh right away and it is delicious. If you would like to store it long term then it needs to be left in a dry place with good airflow to cure until the outer layers dry. This will form a coating that keeps the garlic from molding once you store it inside.
This is the first year that some of our harvest is from cloves we grew the previous year and it was a success!
